Learning about Korean Culture

Talk about culture shock. From people drinking day in and day out, to an entire population that smokes and to a society that posts billboards of before and after surgery patients~

I've been so sheltered by the Canadian culture that I had no idea of what existed beyond my borders. I've only been here a few weeks and I still feel like I haven't seen all the different sides of Korea and it's culture. I can take pictures and document my experiences, but I feel that until I live here, I will not fully grasp the true nature of the Korean Society~ But of course, for me to live here, it would require a large amount of preparation and planning.... which I might actually do? =) Who knows~ In anycase, I'm going to leave you with some awesome pictures!

A Fob has landed in Korea!

Hello my followers, I have safetly and successfully landed in Korea. Thanks for those who prayed for my safe travels!! I <3 you greatly!

Ok so I guess I've missed about 3 days of posts and so this posting will go in chronological order...or so I'm hoping!

So this is before leaving for Korea. I feel really ballin' when I took this picture, but in reality it's just a bunch of $10 bills. hahaha about 100 x $10 bills. haha talk about carrying too many bills!

As you can see this is the airport! Preparing to board my plane to my stopover at Narita, Japan. Let me tell you that this flight was quite possibly the worst flight ever in my life! It was a long flight, but that was not what made this flight bad in particular. I was seated with a crazy Japanese Old man on the plane. I use the word crazy very loosely here. He was more mentally ill and suffered from from some sort of muscular dystrophy. He wore a tupee, which was like curly black hair, his clothes were not washed and he smelled of burnt cabbage and body odour.

Obviously, I asked the flight attendant if I could switch seats, but assured me that I had to stick in the one I had been given. Anyways, so as a real man I told myself "suck it buttercup!" I will be soon having a great time in Korea. So during the flight, I could not sleep because this guy would start talking to himself and then start flinching randomly, and seldomly hit me with an elbow, followed by a "gomenasai" The thing is that I can't get mad at someone who is really mentally ill and apologizes everytime he would hit me.

So after gruelling 17 hours of about 1000 elbows and "gomenasai's" I arrived at Narita, Japan. I have to say though, Japan is quite the beautiful country. I wish I took a picture while I was up in the air, but it was a breath-taking sight. It seems that everything in Japan, including the landscape, looks like it came right out of a story book. I mean the roads are all so clean and well paved and the trees...wow they literally look like straight pieces of brocolli!!! It was awesome!

Japan is definitely a place I want to visit in the near future, but as for now I will be spending my time here in Korea to visit, taste and see all that it has to offer~

So, I'm running out of time right now so I'm just going to be posting a bunch of pictures and caption them later (well I'll write longer captions later!!) Let me just say that the tables have changed and that I'm the FOB in Korea now....the only difference? I think they like FOBS here...especially me~ mukakakaka

The confusing subway line =S

I'm going to be a King in Korea, figuratively speaking mukakaka!!!

I'm with great friends and an amazing country to be discovered. I am thankful for so much! BTW for you guys who want stories....haha wait till I get back...I don't think I can post those here~ =P

Ok, well until next time I'll be seeing you guys!!! Still so much to see and so little time!!! Peace!!

Couple of Days till I Depart!

So here I am, blogging again...BLOGGGG!!! haha

It's only a couple of days until I head off to my motherland. A motherland by which I have not seen since....well...ever? I guess you could say that my real mother in Kanata and Corea is my mom's mom. Confusing...yes....very~

Ok, so I'm suppose to write a bunch of things that are really funny so I can get you guys to keep reading right? Well I'll tell you one thing, I'm afraid of Korean FOBS. It's not that they smell or have bad breath, although some of them do, it's that most of the ones I've met have this strange belief that life is like a box of chocolate....shit...what I meant to say is that they think that life is like a Korean Drama? I don't know, maybe I'm wrong, but I'm sure hoping that this trip will change the way I think? I almost have this glimmer of hope that somewhere along my way in Korea, I'll meet people that think life is more like the T.V show Glee, where they all just stop what they are doing and start singing and dancing...hahaha wow that would be AWESOME!!! I guess what I'm trying to say is that I've become so distant with my motherland culture that I've grown this fear that has not allowed me to delve deeper into my real background. Again, the time I'm there, it will make me into a REAL MAN...I mean a REAL KOREAN MAN! haha

So, if you've read up to here, you have no life and you should really get a hobby! hahaha j/k, I'm the one sitting here in my room (which is sexy since I renovated it) typing in some lonely website which no one is probably going to read. I say sad you? haha reality? I say sad me...a sad guy in a really nice room! haha I should probably take some pictures of my room too. Too bad its a bloody mess. hahaha.

Ok, so here's the plan! I've got a list of things that people want me to do. I've already logged it into my phone and I plan on fulfilling all of them! I have to say though, guys and girls are perverted alike...girls just word their request in a fashion where they don't look like a full-blown pervert...haha you girls know who you are!

Here's an example: "take a picture with two girls in a themed hotel room."

Ok, first off the person will remain anonymous hahaha. Secondly, after reading this, think to yourself, "what the hell is a guy going to be doing in a themed hotel room with two girls?" I was thinking playing a lengthy game of monopoly? What were you thinking? you hentai! haha to be honest, I think what she was trying to say is...MONOPOLIZE dem' gals boi! The request itself is a great one, because if for some random chain of events that it does become reality, I'll have a giant smile on my face! hahaha! tyty for the request, you're awesome!!!

And as for you you guys, stay PERVERTED! Actually some of you need to tone it down a tad bit. LOL but honestly, can you imagine how boring life would be if we were all prude? oh man...

Anyhooooo, I'm going to be documenting my travels in this blog and upload some sexy pictures so you guys can literally be there with me...well without actually being there! I love you all and I'll be missing you guys dearly...I'll miss some of you more than others, but nonetheless you'll all be missed! hehe

So I'll be posting when I'm in Korea. Until then, go do something productive, because you just wasted about 5 minutes of your life here. hahaha!

Peace!
Danko a.k.a peanut

This is blogging?

So I'm starting this thing called a blog. I guess this is where people can read the various crazy things that I'm going to write about~

It's interesting to know that people care so much about what people are doing in their daily lives. Twitter? I've made an account, because a friend suggested that I do it and post the adventures in Korea that I will be having in about 2 weeks time. How insane will the time be? I have no idea, but I know that I'll make it the best I can. POST POST POST is all I'll be thinking....so for those taking the time to check me out! Thanks....the time I spent posting isn't a total waste of time! =)

In case this Blog isn't enough for you and my Danko-ness...follow me on Twitter: daniel_k0
